Walking
On an eight mile circular walk from Limeyards Stables you can visit some of the intimate and secluded corners of beautiful Southern Derbyshire AND take in Staunton Harold Reservoir (wildflower meadow, sailing club) Calke Abbey Park & Gardens (National Trust), Melbourne Hall & Gardens, Staunton Harold Hall and Ticknall Limeyards all in one day! Yes, it's only eight miles but you should make a full day of it, because there is so much to enjoy! There are many other walks from Limeyards Stables taking in a varied topography.
Country Crafts

Sailing
No less than three sailing clubs have waters within minutes of Limeyards Stables. They are at:- Foremarke reservoir (Burton Sailing Club), Staunton Harold Reservoir, and Swarkestone.
Skiing
There is also snowboarding and a 650 metre toboggan run at the dry slope near Swadlincote.
Fishing
There is lake, river and canal fishing close by. Day tickets for Staunton Harold reservoir can be obtained from Melbourne Gun & Tackle, High Street, Melbourne.
Riding
The area has numerous good bridle paths over a variety of terrain, providing excellent views.
